Walking & Cycling Routes from Przymorze: Sea and Forest

Published: July 23, 2026 · From the apartment: start from Park Reagana, 5–10 min on foot

From Przymorze you have two completely different routes within reach of the same apartment — and they’re easy to mix up. One is the flat seaside promenade: asphalt, no climbs, good for kids on their first bikes. The other is the Tricity Landscape Park with Dolina Radości (Valley of Joy) — forest, moraine and loops of medium difficulty, with real elevation. In both cases the start is the same: Park Reagana, a few minutes’ walk from the Przymorze apartment blocks. Below we pull them apart precisely, because the web still circulates contradictory distances and an out-of-date “pier renovation”.

Is the Brzeźno pier still under renovation?

No. The renovation is finished, and the pier has been open to walkers since 23 December 2025, after works costing around 2.2 million PLN. If you stumble on older posts warning of a closed construction site — they’re out of date. The one exception is occasional closures in bad weather: when it’s icy or there’s freezing rain, the pier can be temporarily off-limits (as happened on 26 January 2026). That’s not a renovation, just routine safety — in winter, check the status before you head out.

The seaside route: who it’s for, and how many kilometres it really is

This is the easiest option and the best for families: the coastal belt from Brzeźno through Park Reagana and Jelitkowo all the way to Sopot, nearly flat, mostly asphalt or paved park alleys, marked as EuroVelo 10 and 13. The whole Brzeźno–Sopot stretch is about 8–10 km one way; at a leisurely pace count on 40–60 minutes, while experienced cyclists will do it in 25–35.

Distances vary wildly between sources — you’ll see 8–10 km, 14 km, even 15 or 25 km — because everyone counts from a different point (Brzeźno, central Gdańsk, all the way to Gdynia Orłowo). So from the base’s perspective: Park Reagana sits roughly halfway along the Brzeźno–Sopot stretch, which means it’s an estimated ~5–7 km one way to the Sopot pier (that’s an approximation — measure the exact distance on a map before you go), and the same the other way to the Brzeźno pier. The route is separated and well signed, running anywhere from a few to a few hundred metres from the beach, and at the Gdańsk–Sopot boundary (in Jelitkowo) it enters the coastal forest.

An honest downside: in summer this is the most crowded stretch around. The narrow promenade at peak season mixes walkers, skaters and cyclists, so on a July afternoon expect to be brushing past people on the path — with kids, better ride in the morning or after 6 pm.

The forest and Dolina Radości: why it’s a different league of difficulty

The Tricity Landscape Park is over 20,000 ha of moraine, ravines and beech woods across Gdańsk, Sopot and Gdynia, with a network of 6 walking trails, 8 cycling routes and 3 nature paths. The most interesting entrance leads from the Oliwa side into Dolina Radości in the Oliwa Forest — forest tracks, the Oliwa Stream, the Devil’s Stone by Droga Węglowa.

And here’s the key difference many guides blur: this is not a flat route like the seaside one. The walking variant from ul. Juliusza Słowackiego is over 6 km, while the full moraine loop is 8–10 km and 3–4 hours on foot at medium difficulty — with plenty of climbs and descents. If you want the forest without the effort, there’s an asphalt cycling variant from the Oliwa ZOO to ul. Słowackiego, running the whole way among the trees and away from cars — a good option for families on bikes.

How to get there from Przymorze without a car: SKM train to Gdańsk Oliwa station, tram 2, 4 or 6 to the „Strzyża” stop, or bus 171 to Matarnia; buses 110 and 118 will drop you at „Aleja Złota”. Car parks along ul. Słowackiego, ul. Bytowska and around Dwór Oliwski fill up on weekends. Check the exact connection from the stop by the apartment in the jakdojade app — the numbers depend on the specific stop.

Your own bike, a rental, or MEVO?

Three ways. Your own bike — straight from the apartment onto the promenade. A rental — most convenient when you need a child seat, a trailer or gear for the whole crew: Veloking has outlets right on the route (Jelitkowo, Przymorze, Brzeźno – Dom Zdrojowy) with helmets, child seats and trailers; Rower Partner in Brzeźno (ul. Północna 1) has over 300 bikes, including kids’ bikes and tandems, and caters to groups; there’s also a year-round rental at ul. Dąbrowszczaków 1 in Przymorze.

The third option is the city-run MEVO. In 2026 the fleet is 5,299 bikes (3,999 electric), and Przymorze and Brzeźno are among the most bike-friendly districts — stations sit by Brzeźno beach among other places (check exact points in the app). The cost model: a one-off start fee (~10 PLN plus topping up your wallet), then either pay-per-minute (classic and electric billed separately) or a monthly subscription of around 30 PLN. Electric assist kicks in on its own once you set off and works up to 25 km/h. Watch out for the hidden cost: returning a bike outside the allowed zone means a surcharge, and in a banned zone a real penalty — end your ride at a station. Confirm current rates and station locations in the app for 2026, as prices and points change.

With a child, a stroller, or in a larger group

The calmest place to start with the youngest is Park Reagana itself: 5.5 km of alleys, playgrounds, a skatepark, wooden footbridges over the channels and — most importantly — the whole area closed to car traffic. It suits a stroller, first bikes and a warm-up before hitting the promenade. From here you go right towards Brzeźno and the pier, left towards Jelitkowo and Sopot.

The seaside route is flat and separated, so a child on a bike can ride it safely. The forest is another story: there is a mini playground and a kids’ menu in Dolina Radości, but we don’t recommend the main moraine loop with a stroller — the forest tracks can be gravelly and full of roots. With a stroller, stick to the lower parts of the valley or the asphalt ZOO–Słowackiego variant, and it’s best to judge the passability of specific sections on the spot.

For a group staying together — for example in a 10-guest apartment by Park Reagana — the logistics are simple: you’ll rent the full set of gear with child seats and trailers right next door, and you start from your doorstep. For more on the park itself and the beach entrances, see our guide to Park Reagana and Przymorze beach.

When to go and what to watch for

The seaside route (EuroVelo 10) is rideable more or less all year round. In summer you pay for it with a packed promenade and queues at the food stalls; out of season some seaside spots and campsites are closed, but the path is empty. Winter adds a slippery pier and possible closures when it’s icy — in bad weather the rules actually let you ride on the pavement when you’re carrying a child under 10. It pays to plan food along the way in advance: we’ve gathered the spots in Przymorze and Brzeźno separately in where to eat in Przymorze and Brzeźno.

In short: sea = easy and flat, forest = pretty, but with climbs. Choose deliberately, rather than relying on one random distance from the web.

Plan your trip straight from the base by the park

You’re sleeping right by Park Reagana, so both routes start from your doorstep — no car, no logistics. The 10-guest apartment by Park Reagana fits the whole crew, and you’ll rent bikes with child seats and trailers a few minutes away, in Przymorze or Brzeźno. In the morning the seaside promenade to Sopot, in the afternoon the forest in Dolina Radości — one stay, two completely different days.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Brzeźno pier still under renovation?

No. The renovation is finished and the pier has been open to walkers since 23 December 2025 (the works cost around 2.2 million PLN). Older posts about a closed construction site are out of date. The exception is occasional closures in bad weather — for example when it's icy in winter — so on days like that, check whether it's open before you head out.

How many kilometres is it from Park Reagana to the Sopot pier by bike?

The whole Brzeźno–Sopot stretch is about 8–10 km, and Park Reagana sits roughly halfway, so it's an estimated ~5–7 km one way to the Sopot pier. That's an approximation — measure the exact distance on a map before you go. At a leisurely pace you'll cover the full seaside route in 40–60 minutes.

Is it safe to ride this route with a small child?

Yes, on the seaside route. It's flat, paved and separated from car traffic, and Park Reagana itself is entirely car-free — the safest place for a first ride. In summer the promenade gets uncomfortably crowded, so with kids go in the morning or after 6 pm.

How do I get from Przymorze to the forest in Dolina Radości without a car?

The simplest way is the SKM train to Gdańsk Oliwa station, then on foot towards the valley. Alternatives: tram 2, 4 or 6 to the „Strzyża” stop, or bus 171 to Matarnia; buses 110 and 118 will take you to „Aleja Złota”.
